The European Researchers’ Night will incorporate a “Teen Science Slam” format, where high school students and alumni present the projects of their high school diploma thesis or Sparkling Science projects in the established slam-style. For professional preparation the “teen slammers” participate in a workshop a few weeks prior to the event with Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Weingartner. The challenge is to step on the stage, try to get the public attention about the topic and keep them interested and entertained. Whether with PowerPoint presentation, props or without aids, they have to introduce their own research topic so understandable and clear possible to to win the hearts and minds of the audience. Each slammer will be evaluated on the basis of his/her ability to capture the audiences’ attention with a precise, accessible and original introduction to their research topic. The Teen Science Slam offers a platform for young people to show their work to a broad public outside of the formal constrain ts of a class room or lab.
